How to buy your wedding suit

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. A special occasion to be celebrated once in a lifetime.

It’s a fact that you need to feel your best. The first step to feeling your best, is looking your best!

Before going on the hunt for your wedding suit, we recommend that you first establish what we call “the 3 W’s”

What do you need?

When do you need it?

Where is it going to be?

What do you need? It’s important to remember that there is no right or wrong when it comes to dictating what you need to wear, after all it’s your big day

That being said, you must also ask yourself the following;

Is it a two piece suit you’re after? Is it something you wish to wear to work or other events as well as your wedding? Or is it going to be a statement?

If you need any help with answering this question please book in (for a drop by) or get in touch

Undoubtedly, one of the most important questions of all…. When do you need it?

5 – 7 months until the big day, you have time to start exploring all your options.

3 – 4 months it’s time to book in for your “initial consultation” and order your suit so there is plenty of time

2 – 3 months its starting to get a little tight but not too late to book in for your “initial consultation”

4-6 weeks is extremely tight and our express service will have to be used.

Less than 1 month is too close for comfort and alternatives will need to be made

Also be sure to know if you are leaving the country prior to your wedding, it should be this date you are counting from.

Where is it going to be? Where your wedding is and what time of year it takes place is quite an important factor to take into consideration and will dictate what material you will be going for

Understandably, a wedding in the Bahamas is going to require a lightweight and breathable fabric. Something along the lines of Linen, Cotton, silk, lightweight wool or a blend of all or some of these materials. These fabrics cater to warmer climates and allow maximum comfort, usually at the cost of year round versatility.

On the other hand, if your wedding is in Scotland in the middle of Winter, you’re obviously going to want something to keep you warm;

Flannels, heavy wools or even tweed is what you would be looking for.

Fabric weights will also play a big part here as 320gsm to 400gsm (11oz – 14oz) Is what we would recommend for colder climates. Naturally, heavier fabrics will also hold up incredibly well over time and even in milder climates such as the typical London weather, you will find these ranges to still be suitable.

Or why not meet in the middle and choose a fabric that works for every season for almost any occasion. Look for a merino wool with a medium weight of 270gms and go from there

Once you’re able to answer the 3 W’s then you can focus your attention on the finer details.
